CFTI left for the 20th West Texas Taekwondo Championships in Snyder Texas on March
3rd, 2006.
This was a significant event for many reasons, for one, we participated as a school. This was an
CFTI organized trip, we left the night before to spend the night in restful peace in order to properly
prepare ourselves for the events to come. All arrangements and reservations were handled
completely by CFTI staff. Our first tournament ever as a school!!!
I wish to take this moment to thank those who went along specifically to help. All of the volunteer
participation made it easier for the instructors to focus their attention to the needs of the
competitors on the floor. Specifically I want to mention a special thanks to Pat Sexius and Eric
Olson; a world of many thanks to you for your assistance.
For another reason, not only was it our first tournament as a school but it also was an away
tournament. We travelled several hours away to compete against many fighters for which many of
you were unfamiliar with, and you all did extremely well. I am proud of all of you.
The trip to Snyder was a completely incident free success. The CFTI staff were met with many
obstacles, but each were overcome with such ease and poise. The first night close with a timely
arrival and the last night ended with a safe return, none of this
would have been possible if not everyone had helped out.
I commend all of you on your behavior.
Why else was this trip significant? Because after a grueling
trial of our strength, endurance and character not one of our
student came home empty handed. Congratulations to
Bruno Arce-Bronze in sparring, Peter Olson-Bronze in forms
and Silver in sparring, Samantha Spangler-Bronze in forms
and Silver in sparring, Christopher Smith-Silver in sparring, Ried Kelly-Bronze in forms and
sparring & Gavin Sexius-Silver in forms and in sparring.
